Providence is calling a Health Physicist (Imaging Department, Variable Shift, 1.0 FTE ) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

In this position you will:

  • Evaluate proposed activities for presentation to the Radiation Safety Committee.

  • Facilitate discussion with members of the committee and the proposed user.

  • Supervise the record systems for all radiation surveys, wipe tests, leak tests.Maintain records of instrument calibrations.

  • Provide radiation safety support for PAMC & PIC.

  • Maintain current knowledge and implementation of NRC, DOT, and Alaska regulations pertaining to radiation safety, handling of radioactive materials, and the shipping of radioactive material.

  • Develop radiation safety program and conducts annual review of program as required by the NRC.

  • Ensure correct emergency, decontamination, and protection procedures are implemented during emergency situations.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelors of Science or engineering with concentration in health physics

  • Passed part 1 of the Certified Health Physicist exam

  • Complete part 2 of the Certified Health Physicist exam within 4 years of hire

  • 2 years health physics experience
