Providence Health Information Management Specialist I in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Health Information Management Specialist I (Medical Records, Days, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, ALaska. In this position you will:
Accurately and completely transcribes dictation. Maintain production standard of 1000 or more transcribed lines per 8 hours. Assist other staff with interpreting dictation.
Possess expert content knowledge regarding ROI and patient record analysis. Demonstrate superior critical thinking and analytical skills to interpret communicate and execute regulatory requirements and organizational standards. Highly skilled with qualitative analysis of patient records.
Fully understand and operate various computer software and hardware for their respective positions.
Accurately, appropriately, and safely use information technology equipment associated with their respective positions. Troubleshoot and solve minor equipment repair problems, and appropriately refers problems for repair. Collaborate with a variety of hospital staff and physicians to produce and retrieve reports in an efficient manner. Identify, act on and follow-up on problems.
Participate in work sampling. Produces report(s) for QI indicators. Identify areas of potential improvement with equipment and/or software systems and desirable ways to improve service.
Support and participate in teamwork to achieve department goals, and productivity standards. Assess workload with team at beginning of shift and throughout shift to meet timelines. Able to cover for Transcription I or II.
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
Computer and keyboard skills course or equivalent educ/experience
Completion of college level course in medical terminology or equivalent experience and demonstrated knowledge or equivalent educ/experience
1 year acute care transcription of discharge summaries, H&Ps, operation reports, consultation reports, and radiology exams
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Completion of college level course in Anatomy and Physiology
2 years transcription experience
Certified Medical Transcriptionist RHIT, RHIA and/or CHP
