Providence is calling a Communications Specialist (Telecommunications, Variable Shift, 0.0 FTE - On-Call) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Operate computerized telephone switchboard to provide effective and efficient flow of communication to staff, patients, physicians and general public.
Monitor and respond to the following emergency and life safety systems: Code 777 phone, Code Blue monitor, Fire alarms, Parking structure duress phones, Blood bank temperature alarms, Closed Circuit TV Systems, and Duress monitor.
Receive and communicate requests and information to the hospital security officers.
Monitor the Civil Defense and Intra-Hospital radio networks.
Control and operates the public address system.
Operate the hospital action system.
Maintain complete knowledge of hospital activities and functions.
Maintain information logs, status boards and other resources with current, up-to-date information to ensure accurate dissemination of information.
Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers
Required qualifications for this position include:
Strong verbal communication and listening skills
Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure
Friendly and service-oriented
Maintains composure under pressure
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
One (1) year of Medical related operator experience.
Six (6) monthsuse of multi-line telephone and public announcement systems
Ability to build strong customer relationships
Demonstrated customer service skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Articulate and responsive to colleagues
