Providence is calling a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) (PMG Maternal Fetal Med, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Physician Service Organization in Anchorage, Alaska. Prepare patients and medical records for physician and genetic counseling encounters including pre-visit auditing of charts in accordance with office standards and policies.
Create a positive patient care experience by overseeing and providing nursing care related to patient entry, visit, and follow up according to physician recommendations, established competency guidelines, policies and procedures. Encourages opportunities to improve patient satisfaction, care, and creates quality and safe patient care by applying evidence based practices, utilizing critical thinking, and facilitating continuity of care with referring providers.
Create an atmosphere of teamwork by contributing to opportunities to improve employee satisfaction, including self-development, continuing education (personal and technical), and achieving practice objectives.
Record vital signs, updating patients’ histories, preparation of appropriate instruments for examination or procedures. Ensures appropriate consents are completed for medical treatment and procedures.
Perform OB nursing procedures such as fetal monitoring, injections, blood draws, assists physician in sterile procedures such as chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis. Processing and labeling specimens in accordance with standards and policies.
Triage patient phone inquiries according to the physician and/or office protocols and document such actions in the patient's electronic medical record.
Provide oversight of nursing functions ensuring appropriate clinical practices and serving as the key clinical liaison to other staff and delegates tasks to medical assistants (MA’s), non-licensed medical staff and office support personnel.
Educate patients in a wide variety of health care subjects such as maternal/child health care, routine pregnancy conditions, basic health care maintenance and antenatal testing.
Inspect equipment and facilities visually and physically to ensure patient safety and proper functioning of equipment. Maintains adequate stock of supplies as required for working areas.
Attend and participates in meetings related to clinical activities.
Perform patient follow-up including notifying patients of laboratory results, scheduling referral appointments, maintaining charts and records, and responding to patient telephone calls.
Create a supportive and collaborative environment for physicians and multi-disciplinary care staff to achieve optimal outcomes.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduation as a RN from a school of nursing accredited by the National League of Nursing
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska
1 year of professional nursing experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Prior OB/MFM outpatient clinic or labor and delivery experience is preferred
Knowledgeable of the uses and effects of medications, medical terminology and EPIC electronic medical record
