Providence Behavioral Health Intake Coordinator in Anchorage, Alaska
Description:
Providence is calling a Intake Coordinator (PBMG Anchorage, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Physician Service Organization in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Be responsible for responding to all inquiries (telephone and walk-in) regarding possible admission to the program or outpatient clinic in a timely, customer-service orientated manner.
Be able to comfortably discuss financials, obtain clinical information from potential patient, client, family member, referral representative, mental health and medical professionals to determine appropriateness for scheduled assessment
Assign and coordinate intake evaluations with appropriate providers based on patient needs
Complete documentation upon which intake screening is based and provides it as a part of the patient’s clinical record
Consult with clinical staff regarding recommendations for intake versus referral to other sources
Refer patients to other levels of care within the hospital, the outpatient programs, or to other providers or programs if treatment by Providence Breakthrough or Providence Behavioral Medicine Group is not appropriate or feasible
Work closely with the clinical supervisors, the operations director, the medical director and billing manager
Be able professionally communicate approvals/denials to potential patient, client, family member, referral representative, mental health and medical professionals
Review provider schedules daily to assist with filling schedules to capacity
Maintain poise under crisis conditions
Follow through on managing crises until resolution, i.e., patient placement or referral to the treatment team or Clinical Supervisor for further follow-up/case consultation or case resolution
Act as a resource and coordinates assessments with other behavioral/mental health professionals
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related behavioral health discipline
Assessment and/or crisis intervention experience
