Providence Health & Services South Bay Community Emergency Management Program Manager ( Full Time - Day ) in Torrance, California
Providence is calling a full time, day shift South Bay Community Emergency Management Program Manager to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance in Torrance, CA.
In this position you will:
Maintain oversight of the South Bay Community (SBC) Service Area Emergency Management (EM) program and functions.
Be responsible for EM activities for personnel and facilities within the SBC; identifies potential EM risks, evaluates hazards, prioritizes needs and coordinates corrective action(s).
Be available for emergency response at any time.
Provide Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS), California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Joint Commission (TJC) compliance oversight.
Provide representation in the Providence System and Southern California Region Emergency Preparedness Councils.
Develop, coordinate and integrate the Emergency Management programs into the community’s emergency operations plan and will work as the liaison with City, County, State and Federal programs.
Maintain and oversee all County, State and Federal Emergency Preparedness grant compliance elements.
Travel to all sites under their purview for ongoing evaluation, representation and oversight of the EM functions and programs.
Perform all duties in a manner in which promotes team concept and reflects the Providence Health System mission and philosophy.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Education in Emergency/Disaster Management
Four years (4) of progressive experience in emergency management planning and coordination
One (1) year of supervisory experience
Minimum six (6) years in healthcare emergency management
Medical background such as RN or EMT
Experience in management of disaster, trauma or emergency operations
Knowledge of emergency department clinical/medical operations
Basic knowledge of hospital operations
Ability to communicate effectively with hospital personnel and external agencies
Ability to represent the hospital in various hospital, community committees and task forces
Background in chemical, biological, radiological and explosive decontamination processes
ICS 100, ICS 200, NIMS 700 and NIMS 800
Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) credential
Certified Healthcare Emergency Management Professional (CHEP) credential
Hospital Disaster Management t (HDMT)
Valid California Driver's License
Valid Vehicle Insurance
Clean Driving Record
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Police/Fire Science, Business or related field
Experience working in the healthcare field
Experience writing and administering grants
Knowledge of emergency management functions and standards including incident command systems
Technical knowledge of decontamination equipment, respirators and a variety of personal protective equipmentDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, management, physicians and the publicAbility to use team building, negotiation, and project planning and to complete projects and achieve resultsComputer skills using Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to analyze emergency management codes, federal and state laws and administrative rulesAbility to design policies and programs to achieve complianceAbility to effectively advocate for emergency management and safety for employees, physicians, and patientsAbility to effectively manage staff across the SBC, and meet management obligations.Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with staff, management, and other team membersAbility to exercise sound judgment, problem solve and make decisionsAbility to work effectively in a team and independentlyAbility to prioritize, organize, and complete duties on time
