Providence Health & Services Trauma Registrar in Spokane, Washington
Providence is calling a Trauma Registrar (Providence Quality Assurance, Day Shift, 0.5 FTE) to Providence Health Care in Eastern Washington. In this position you will:
Be responsible for collecting, entering, scoring, coding, and data validation processes related to the Washington State Trauma Registry.
Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives as directed.
Assist in identifying and documenting patient charges and securing state appropriated funds for trauma care reimbursement.
Maintain trauma patient database(s) and transfer log, and assist with follow-up communications as directed.
Organize and prioritize workload to complete assignments during the shift.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Course(s) in medical terminology or equivalent knowledge
Course(s) in medical coding
Course(s) in human anatomy
At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare or related setting
At least 1 year of medical record abstracting and/or coding experience
At least 1 year of medical registry experience or at least 2 years of working in a healthcare-related field
Experience with injury severity coding and reimbursement coding
Competency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Proficiency in use of office machines (computer, printer, FAX, copier, etc)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certified Specialists in Trauma Registers (CSTR) certification
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or similar medical coding certification
Ability to function in a setting with a wide variety of duties and potential for noise and interruptions
