Providence Health & Services Lab Assistant 2 in Seaside, Oregon

Providence is calling a Lab Assistant 2 (0.0 FTE, Rotating/Variable) to Providence Seaside Hospital in Seaside, OR.

This is a combination role of about 30% phlebotomy and 70% lab processing and lab manager support work.

In this position, you will:

  • Be responsible for the accurate and timely receiving, processing, and labeling of laboratory specimens, and the appropriate handling and/or disbursement of laboratory data and patient results.

  • Support personnel work with acute-care and outpatient caregivers, vendors, consultants, and other Laboratory Services staff in performing their duty.

  • Be responsible for registering outpatient laboratory encounters obtaining complex demographic, insurance, and medical information.

  • Maintain up to date knowledge and competency on required registration functions.

  • Utilize multiple computer applications in order to establish patient accounts.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1 year of industry related coursework or experience -and/or- certification from an accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant program

  • Proficiency in the use of personal computer and multiple business software applications

  • Knowledge of specimen handling and collection requirements, general laboratory workflow, and basic medical terminology

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Some college-level coursework

  • Registrar experience

  • Certification from an approved government agency or nationally recognized professional organization (e.g. ASCP AMT, etc.)

  • Industry related coursework or work experience in phlebotomy, medical assisting or laboratory experience
