Providence is calling a Sr. Director, Human Resources to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.

We are seeking a Sr. Director, Human Resources to responsible for leading the HR Team for Population Health and developing and aligning HR strategies with the business needs and is accountable to business leaders for all HR brokered services. Operates as a senior advisor managing complex inter-disciplinary matters. Serves as trusted advisor and advocate to employees, managers and leaders. Provides solutions to complex or critical issues involving the workforce. Determines HR implications of changing business needs and recommends actions to be taken and leads consulting efforts to achieve outcomes. Sets and ensures implementation of high quality standards for HR support to employees, managers and leaders. Sr. Director, HR Population Health performs all duties in a manner which promotes teamwork and reflects the Providence Health & Services mission, values and philosophy and the values of the human resources division.

In this position you will:

  • Act as strategic partner and advisor to the leaders of the organization.

  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching and development for the HR team under it’s direction.

  • Serve as a member of the local leadership team and provide advice to the local Executives and other team members. Work collaboratively to eliminate organizational redundancy and duplication and to facilitate organizational change to improve delivery of quality, cost-effective health care within an integrated system.

  • Be responsible for supporting managers in repositioning, redeployment or restructuring activities. Provide latest source of effective tools, including organization design and analysis and preferred Organizational Development practice to achieve the manager’s goals.

  • Coach and counsel leadership on human resources concerns to manage business, labor, and legal risk, and support employee engagement and performance management.

  • Work collaboratively with OD team to coach and facilitate activities in support of succession planning and other employee development initiatives.

  • Coach and facilitate leadership development activities including assessing needs and skills of business unit, and providing department specific support.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field.

  • Eight years of experience as an HR Strategic Partner or HR Consultant.

  • 10 years of professional human resources experience at an exempt level with at least 5 years of leadership experience.

  • Demonstrates ability to bring all functions together to identify intersection points among programs, achieve synergy and improve quality of HR services delivered to employees, managers and leaders. Demonstrates ability to build collaborative partnerships and manage mutual expectations between Centers of Expertise and customer needs within the existing systems, infrastructure, and processes to resolve customer’s issues promptly and effectively.

  • Demonstrates ability to develop HR strategies that maximize people impact and align with business strategy and changes in the business environment. Demonstrates ability to justify new or enhanced HR programs that enable the business strategy through business case and ROI analysis.

  • Demonstrates ability to identify and analyze key business drivers, tie these trends to Mission and core values, and actively engage in ongoing business events to anticipate emerging HR implications and articulate and set strategic priorities.

  • Demonstrates ability to design change and communication plans and leverage appropriate tools to anticipate business needs. Demonstrates ability to implement plans to help the business successfully move through transition and transformation.

  • Demonstrates ability to impact employees, managers and leaders by creating innovative people solutions that align with the mission and business strategy and ultimately improve our ability to provide excellent patient care. Utilizes relationships, business acumen, and HR knowledge to influence decision-making.

  • Provides expert advice and coaching to managers and leaders on the most challenging and difficult people decisions. Facilitates groups through complex, challenging issues that require discernment.

  • Acts as a “trusted advisor” to leadership – identifies opportunities for contribution, is sought out by leaders for strategic thinking and analyses, and brings fresh ideas to the table and challenges old ways of doing things.

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of employee relations principles, including Federal and State laws, company policies, and appropriate collective bargaining agreements. Works collaboratively with experts to address and proactively avoid employee relations issues.

  • Identifies and resolves a wide array of human capital problems with appropriate HR interventions. Engages the proper Center of Expertise as necessary and serves as the first line of defense against basic compliance and legal violations that would endanger the business.

  • Demonstrates depth and breadth of HR knowledge and strong understanding of customers and labor/ employee policies.

  • Demonstrates ability to utilize HR metrics to improve customer service, expand impact of core HR programs, and demonstrate HR value and ROI within the context of the broader business strategy.

  • Takes initiative to manage the most sensitive and challenging customer issues to resolution and includes others as appropriate to promote partnership and cooperation.

  • Understands the basic financial, market, and consumer drivers of healthcare as an industry and what makes Catholic Healthcare unique. Applies a working knowledge of the healthcare business to support and offer recommendations and align HR practices to ensure that we are “winning in the market place”.

  • Addresses customer problems promptly and manages to resolution while keeping the customer’s well-being in mind in all situations. Demonstrates recognition and respect for the dignity of each person and demonstrates care, empathy and compassion for others.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • MBA/MS.

  • Multi-site/location, multi-line of business, and/or integrated health system experience.
