Providence Health & Services Senior Financial Analyst in Renton, Washington


Providence is calling a Senior Financial Analyst to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to participate in a wide variety of financial planning services in areas of strategic and financial planning, operational analysis, benchmarking, capital project review, and consultation. Participate in the preparation and review of annual plans and analyses, preparation of feasibility studies, summary schedules, operations analysis, risk contract analysis, contract financial settlements. Develop and maintain processes for contract modeling, reporting, planning and forecasting. Ownership for complex special projects as assigned. Prepare financial analyses for assigned projects, entities, and/or departments.

In this position you will:

  • Consolidate financial reports from all facilities within the system office using critical thinking to identify possible inconsistencies and errors. Ensure data accuracy and be able to analyze financial data to identify business drivers and trends to make recommendations.

  • Provide timely, relevant and accurate ad-hoc reporting & analysis of the results of the divisions’ performance against historical, budgeted, forecasted and strategic planning results to facilitate decision-making toward the achievement of the budget and strategic plan.

  • Assist in facilitation of the long-rang financial forecast and budget.

  • Partner with all levels of the organization to provide ad hoc financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions.

  • Facilitate and independently drive all processes and discussions associated with the financial aspect of the system office facilities including expense research and variance explanation.

  • Champion the continuous improvement of solution development methodologies, systems requirement analysis, etc. in order to improve the delivery of the finance department’s services to various other business areas.

  • Support annual Budget season and other finance processes as needed.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University in Business, Finance or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of previous business & financial analysis, planning & project management experience.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Health care finance operations including financial budgeting, reporting and analysis.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of computers for data handling and transfer; and independent responsibility for health information management and data analysis, or equivalent.

  • Extensive experience with Excel, Access or similar databases, word processing, desktop publishing, and statistical and graphing applications.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of management.

  • Ability to effectively work with a diverse team of senior financial analysts.
