Providence is calling a Director, Internal Controls and Compliance to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.
We are seeking a Director, Internal Controls & Compliance to be responsible for managing the Health System Internal Controls Program. The Director will work cross-functionally to identify areas of financial and operational risk, as well as identify, define, and implement business process and control improvements including, but not limited to, remediation measures to resolve control deficiencies. Director must be able to assess processes and controls environments over accounting, reimbursement, treasury, payroll, AP and financial reporting areas, in addition to supporting areas such as revenue cycle and supply chain.
In this position you will:
Create, implement and maintain internal controls environment and policy, including annual reviews and approvals. Manage the implementation and maintenance of the internal controls documentation and monitoring program, as well as the completion of the annual Internal Controls Compliance Work Plan while continuously monitoring for changes in the organizational risk profile and/or operational environment; including conducting annual risk assessment, scoping for management testing and compliance.
Manage development and maintenance of process documents to include performance testing and annual review of documents and ensure timely updating of controls documentation.
Manage ongoing evaluation, testing and enhancement of the internal controls environment by performing walkthroughs and control testing, including development and maintenance of standard testing templates. Proactively monitor major changes in business, process and systems and provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders, various departments and external auditors, highlighting best business and control practices.
Provide support to the deficiency reporting and remediation process, including providing assistance to various business areas to fulfill their internal controls environment needs, tracking remediation status of control deficiencies and other findings. Assist with training business owners and Finance personnel on establishment of new process and implementation of controls, as needed.
Supervise the daily work of assigned professional staff including scheduling, monitoring and coaching. Assure work product is completed accurately and timely in accordance with departmental standards, and workplace behaviors are consistent with Providence mission and values.
Manage staff career development through goal setting, cross-training, and challenging and varied work assignments.
Lead the new hire recruiting and selection process including salary negotiation, with Senior Director, Corporate Finance approval. Perform or coordinate new hire on-boarding and training.
Serve as department leader in the absence of the Senior Director, Corporate Finance as requested.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelors of Arts or Sciences in business administration, accounting, finance, or related fields of study.
Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive external/internal audit or accounting experience is required. However, experience in finance, healthcare administration and related fields can be used to substitute for audit/accounting experience on a two for one basis for up to two years.
Prior experience with implementation and management of an internal control environment reporting process.
Two (2) years supervisory or audit project lead experience.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- A Masters of Business Administration or Masters of Accounting.
