Providence Health & Services (PH&S) desires to employ a Director, Application Services for Finance & Supply Chain. The Director provides excellence in application planning, implementation and support for Providence and affiliated organizations. The Director creates and executes strategic plans for highly complex issues involving information services operations and support, and works to standardize complex and disparate processes and methodologies related to application management such as system deployment, support, and life cycle. The position is dedicated to process improvement methodology, change management, and operational improvement in our complex systems.
Key Position Accountabilities:
Maintain relationships with key business partners and other senior leaders in the IT industry in order to leverage best practices, evaluate and manage emerging application technologies.
Direct adoption process for introducing and implementing new services, technologies and/or applications into Information Services (IS).
Implement appropriate service delivery models for core application functions in defining, delivering, and improving services.
Responsible for working with leaders of IS Strategy and Business Development in ensuring adherence to standards and the effectiveness of application systems.
Ensure that the Applications division supports IS services and systems effectively.
Participate in the development of the overall IS strategic plan by identifying needed application management strategies and projects that support business needs.
Manage customer expectations and ensure measurable outcomes are defined and reported for each strategy or project.
Partner with key stakeholders and customers to implement application services for strategic initiatives that are effective, user-friendly and accurate.
Manage approximately 100 staff including managers, supervisors, high performing individual contributors / technical staff and analysts.
Develop and negotiate preferred information technology vendor contracts. Manage key vendor relationships.
Ensure performance of applications within their domain and evaluate services on the basis of specific Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Oversee budgeting and expenditures for applications, staff and services within their span of control.
Assist in the development of and monitor compliance with policies and procedures for Application Services that impact all of Providence.
Attract, hire, train, motivate, retain, and develop a team of first-rate professionals to perform the responsibilities of applications management.
Design, implement, maintain, and operate departmental Service Level Agreements, Operating Level Agreements, and associated KPIs.
Develop budgets and expenditures for information services related to applications in partnership with other leaders and the PMO.
Escalate critical issues, problems or delays in production, projects or service.
Lead initiatives to improve service delivery, increase value, and promote customer service.
Maintain the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable applications and process that support the growth and financial objectives of Providence.
Team with the business and other IS disciplines to develop and maintain appropriate disaster recovery architecture, projects, and policies, and participates in disaster drills for applications.
Use Finance applications (e.g. General Ledger, Billing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Management and Expense Reimbursement) including design and implementation.
Use Supply Chain applications (e.g. Contract Management, Sourcing, Purchasing, Supplier/ Vendor Management, Pricing, Inventory).
Use Warehouse Management and Distribution applications.
Use Performance Management solutions (e.g. Hyperion Financial Management).
Support Business processes enablement and optimization.
20-25% travel, to meet with local Providence teams, leadership, stakeholders, business partners, customers, attend conferences and trade shows, and otherwise fulfill management duties through short term visits.
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services, Engineering, or related field.
8 years of progressive post-baccalaureate Information Services leadership experience
10 years of cumulative experience implementing large scale Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) applications (Oracle, Infor/ Lawson, SAP, PeopleSoft or Siebel). This ERP implementation experience must span design, implementation, and/or upgrade experience.
5 years of experience an ERP project manager or ERP solution architect. ERP Experience must span both core finance and supply chain modules, including finance applications, supply chain applications, warehouse management and distribution applications.
