Providence Health & Services Sterile Processing Technician 2 , Cardiovascular Operating Room in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Sterile Processing Technician 2 to its Cardiovascular Operating Room at St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.

This is an on-call position, however, your schedule will be made available 4-6 weeks in advance. This posting represents 8 hour shifts; average available hours are approximately 20 hours per week. Shift start times will vary (all morning start times). A limited amount of standby/call will be required.

In this position, you will:

  • Act as a resource to staff in decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization methods, and inventory management in addition to performing all of the duties of a Sterile Processing Technician.

  • Organize inventories and maintain sterile instrument inventory system for assigned services.

  • Work collaboratively with departments to identify instrument needs.

  • Assist in the training of personnel in general instrumentation procedures and specific complex instrumentation.

  • Coordinate shift activities in the absence of the supervisor.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Surgical Technologist or Central Service (CS) Technician certification

  • 3 years of recent sterile processing experience

  • Experience using a personal computer with Windows based software applications
