Providence Health & Services Senior Quality & Performance Engineer - Temp in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Senior Quality & Performance Engineer - Temp to Providence Health & Services in Portland, OR.

We are seeking a temporary Senior Quality & Performance Engineer to be the subject matter expert for quality and development of upcoming product and tool releases. As the technical lead, they will build solutions based customer needs and requirements. These solutions will support testing and data warehousing needs. The engineer will also develop tools to enable KPI, analytics and decision support capabilities.

In this position you will:

  • Participate in the establishment of business and financial plans and budgets for team and the development of the long-range strategic plan for IS and its customers.

  • Mentor others staff members in technical knowledge related to Quality and Performance.

  • Demonstrate service excellence and positive interpersonal relationship development in dealing with others including peers, employees, managers and community members to maximize productivity and positive relations.

  • Create and maintain Test Plans, Issues Lists and additional technical documentation as directed by Lead QA/QC. Lead planning/design phases of testing projects and recommend improvements.

  • Develop solutions and applications that enhance decision making capabilities, reporting of KPIs and other operational measures.

  • Produce well-structured, documented and maintainable test cases and/or scripts that support the verification test cycle within the Product Development Lifecycle and for Automated Regression Testing.

  • Serve as a point of escalation for QA/QC issues, Implementation problems, and design decisions.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Engineering, Information Services or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • 7 years of QA/QC experience and 3 years of experience in Application Development.

  • Experience in MS NT or 2000 Server environments.

  • Expert experience with practical application of the following languages: SQL, HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, VB Script, C#, XML and SharePoint.

  • Led creation of Test Plans, Issues Lists and additional technical requirements.

  • Practical application of algorithms in areas such as machine learning to conduct analysis on large datasets.

  • Application of Manual and automated Functional Integration Testing (FIT), regression, load, scalability, and performance testing.

  • Working knowledge of Visual Studio, Rails, PHP, or Python MVC frameworks.

  • Knowledge and application of best practices in analytics, testing and development.

  • Expert understanding of all interface points of core business/systems and processes.

  • Experience with the following: Microsoft Office: SharePoint, Excel, Visio, ORACLE or SQL Server databases, HP/Mercury Test Suite or other testing software.

  • Expert experience in application scripts and database environments.

  • Understanding of the data governance aspects of applications and integrated tools used to in clinical and business operations.

  • Understanding and knowledge of industry best practices in quality assurance (ISO 9000 standards), quality control and ITIL.

  • Complete understanding of standard SQL and querying.

  • Working knowledge of relational databases especially Oracle/SQL Server.

  • Knowledge of Automated Scripting Languages and Tools.

  • Working knowledge of two of the following Languages: HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, Visual Basic, VB Script, C#, RUBY or XML.

  • Demonstrated skill to administrate QA/QC life cycle management systems.

  • Proven ability in QA/QC and Development Lifecycles and methodologies.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent years experience.

  • Six Sigma and Lean experience.

  • Microsoft certification.
