Providence Health & Services Oncology Clinic Nursing Supervisor in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling an Oncology Clinic Nursing Supervisor to join our team!
This is a rewarding and fully benefited opportunity for an RN with some leadership or charge nurse experience, in addition to prior experience as an RN with chemotherapy infusion.
This position will provide onsite supervision to our Oncology Clinics at the Clackamas and Newberg locations, in addition to maintaining nursing skills and providing direct patient care as needed to support the clinics.
This position offers a Monday-Friday, day shift schedule. The ability to drive to both locations is essential for success in the role.
In this position, you will:
Coordinate and manage the clinical support staff and Registered Nurses (RNs) and the clinical workflows and activities within the clinic.
Be an integral member of the clinic leadership team.
Oversee the care provided by clinical support staff and initiate efforts to improve the quality and skill levels of the clinical staff members.
Lead clinical staff to ensure that patient care services are provided in an efficient, safe, and timely manner that is sensitive to the patient’s physical, psychological and spiritual needs.
Ensure compliance with established clinic policies and procedures.
Provide direct quality care for those patients requiring infusion therapy, blood and component transfusion, and chemotherapy on an outpatient basis.
Provide care according to the individualized needs of the patient using the nursing process and in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Current state of Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
1 year as an infusion nurse in an oncology setting
1-3 years of experience in a supervisory position
Completion of an Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) approved chemotherapy course
Clinical expertise in triage principles of patient assessment
Experience in delegation of nursing responsibilities to licensed and unlicensed personnel within the medical office setting
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an advanced degree in nursing or a related field
3 years of experience as an infusion nurse
1-2 years of medical/surgical experience in an acute care setting
1-3 years of experience in a supervisory position in an ambulatory setting
