Providence Health & Services Manager, SharePoint and Enterprise Applications in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Manager, SharePoint and Enterprise Applications to Providence Health & Services in Portland OR, Renton WA or Beaverton OR.

We are seeking a Manager, SharePoint and Enterprise Applications to to manage a team of developers and application analysts supporting Web applications, SharePoint sites and other enterprise application teams. This person will be the subject matter expert on SharePoint and is responsible for developing, supporting, and determining project requirements and standards for SharePoint intranet and extranet solutions which include customizing and developing SharePoint master pages, page layouts, web parts, web services, workflows, and applications. In addition, the Manager shall analyze, assess and provide recommendations for improving or expanding on SharePoint and workflow processes capabilities. Support includes the design and use of SharePoint dashboards, creating organizational strategic plans, and facilitating command messages to align efforts to mission of the organization.

In this position you will:

  • Manage a technical team to support web and other enterprise applications or teams

  • Develop budget and manage expenses for the department

  • Maintain SharePoint permissions to the SharePoint site, ensuring users have appropriate and timely access to SharePoint pages, lists, libraries, etc. in accordance with established SharePoint business rules

  • Manage site content ensuring pages are organized, current, appear professional and provide workflow capabilities that support Organization mission and goals

  • Develop reports to monitor compliance and assist organization with remediation techniques

  • Routinely validate/repair links throughout the SharePoint domain to ensure efficient navigation for end users. Periodically validate and update graphics and photos throughout SharePoint pages and reports

  • Maintain the SharePoint Slide Library and ensure command level slides are captured, maintained, and updated as needed for routine use in future command briefings

  • Provide incremental improvements on products such as lists, forms, and reports to capture input, track progress, and report metrics resulting in user friendly and intuitive products

  • Provide PowerPoint slides that summarize requirements and information as needed for meetings and briefings not supported by SharePoint

  • Capable of technical deep dives into infrastructure, databases, and applications, specifically in designing, coding, operating, and supporting high-performance, highly available services and infrastructure

  • Experience in designing for failure, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning

  • Experience operating and supporting mission-critical applications (e.g. incident and outage management)

  • Experience in using latest networking, infrastructure, database, and application technologies to drive automation and reliability improvements

  • Bring new thinking to challenge existing technology and processes & drive change across the organization

  • Firm sense of accountability and ownership

  • Act as a SharePoint Subject Matter Expert.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • 3 years of Information Services leadership experience (managing technical staff), and 5 years total relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience.

  • 5 years of extensive experience with MS SharePoint® as well as programs that support/compliment MS SharePoint® (such as InfoPath®, MS SharePoint Designer®, and MS Business Intelligence Development Studio®) and other web technologies

  • Experience with interacting high level staff and decision makers

  • Requires previous demonstrated experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and rectifying client web presentation and/or access issues by employing strong listening and communication skills

  • Must display a broad general technical understanding of system and workstation operating capabilities, to include, but not limited to: Windows operating systems, Outlook, Active Directory, and SharePoint environments

  • Must have demonstrated creative problem-solving skills and be a team player

  • Experience in upgrading and migrating custom solutions across versions of SharePoint farms

  • Knowledge of SQL Server

  • Experience in using latest networking, infrastructure, database, and application technologies to drive automation and reliability improvements

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • A Master’s degree in Information Services, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or a related IS or healthcare field.
