Providence Health & Services Diabetes Educator in Portland, Oregon
Providence is calling a part-time Diabetes Educator (0.6 FTE Days) to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.
In this position, you will:
Provide education for clients with diabetes of all ages according to the individualized needs of the client.
Partake in this process that involves a health and education assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of an education plan, taking into account psychosocial, economic, and language barriers.
Perform duties in a classroom or individual outpatient setting, in collaboration with a team of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Dietitians (RDs).
Accept professional development and community outreach as an integral part of professional practice.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian (RD preferred)
Must hold current Oregon licensure
3 years of experience, including experience in treatment and education of diabetes within the last 2 years
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certification in diabetes education (CDE) and/or willingness to attain CDE certification
Formal course work or credentials in principles of adult learning theory and patient-centered learning
Bilingual in Spanish, Russian, or Vietnamese and experience with diverse ethnic groups
