Providence Health & Services Data Warehouse Analyst in Portland, Oregon


Providence is calling a Data Warehouse Analyst to Providence Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CORE) to Providence Portland Medical Center Campus Building C in Portland, OR. CORE is a non-profit research laboratory committed to improving community health. We use surveys, interviews, social network analysis, and mapping techniques to find opportunities to do health care better. At CORE, we believe that health care policy founded on the latest and best research can improve the prognosis for our entire community.

The ideal candidate must have SQL procedural language and SQL coding (version 2008 or higher; preferably SQL Server 2016) and MS Office Suite. SSIS and general administrative data experience (including experience consolidating disparate data sources into analytic data sets) is strongly desired.

In this position, you will :

  • Be responsible for the development and maintenance of the database infrastructure needed for successful analytic processing, providing data interfaces with external databases, and report production.

  • Thoroughly assess the business needs behind the requests for new programming functionality.

  • Conduct technical analytic work.

  • Work with other Providence departments, including Information Technology in the development, testing and promotion of SQL stored procedures and other programming deployments to ensure the work is completed according to established IT processes and appropriate security, version control, and other safeguards are followed.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, social science, biological science, mathematics, or related field -or- equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5 years of experience with SQL or other programming languages

  • 7 years of experience in an analysis or research in a health services, healthcare utilization, or quality assessment environment

  • Formal training in and experience with the techniques of CQI/TQM and statistical process control methodology

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in an industry related field

  • Experience working with medical claims data, including measuring cost, utilization, and quality of care concepts
