Providence Health & Services Bio Development Research Scientist in Portland, Oregon
An exceptional and highly motivated individual is sought to join the Laboratory of Tumor Microenvironment as a Junior Scientist (non-faculty position) at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute (EACRI) at the Providence Cancer Center. The laboratory’s long-term goal is to evaluate factors within the tumor microenvironment that limit the efficacy of both conventional cytotoxic therapy as well as immunotherapy with a focus on translation to the clinic for the treatment of patients with cancer. Current projects include investigating how cancer associated fibroblasts limit immune mediated clearance of the tumor follow radiation, and the mechanism by which TGFb signaling limits the efficacy of chemotherapy and radiation.
Primary responsibilities for this position include designing and conducting experiments associated with pre-clinical models and current clinical studies, analyzing and presenting results, and the ability to maintain a significant presence in the laboratory including supervising technical staff.

In this position, you will:
Be responsible for performing biomedical experiments for projects of limited scope or portions of larger research projects in pursuit of overall research goal or objective of the research laboratory.
Perform all duties in a manner which promotes team concept and reflects the Sisters of Providence mission and philosophy.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Ph.D. in pathology with emphasis in developmental biology
5years training in developmental biology and TGFb signaling pathways
Expertise in immunohistology; pericyte biology, lymphangiogenesis andendothelial-to-mesenchymal transition
