Providence is calling a Program Manager to our Community Health Division at the Providence Office Park in Portland, OR.

With this community health needs assessment, Providence identifies the most pressing health needs of our communities, develops health improvement plans and supports health improvement initiatives.

We know that clinical care is only one contributing factor in people’s health; socioeconomic factors, the physical environment and health behaviors also play important roles in the health of our communities. Additionally, we know that we can‘t improve the health of our communities alone. We are looking for a Program Manager who is passionate about easing the way for the poor and vulnerable with a focus on people affected by behavioral health conditions . This individual will be leading work focused primarily on identifying unmet needs and then connecting with community organizations and partners to improve access in the Oregon region.This role will also interface with our clinical teams, the Health Plan and other divisions within Providence to further our goal of creating healthier communities.

In this position, you will:

  • Be accountable for participating in identifying the unique needs of communities.

  • Focus on people affected by poverty with behavioral health needs, and lead work focused primarily on identifying, improving and connecting with community partners in the Oregon region.

  • Participate in the development of the Community Health Needs Assessments and the Community Health Improvement Plans.

  • Understanding specific needs of the population and communities we serve allows us to design and manage community based programs to improve their health. Be responsible for engaging in: collaborative efforts with community partners, including assisting with the development of Community benefit grants to address identified areas of need.

  • Work with our clinical teams, health plan and others within Providence to further our goal of creating healthier communities together.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5 or more years of experience in program or project management

  • 5 or more years of experience in progressively responsible roles with demonstrated program or project leadership experience

  • 3 years of experience working with low income, Medicaid and/or Medicare populations

  • 3 years of experience managing and developing collaborative community partnerships

  • Understanding of models of care delivery and financing

  • Experience working with low income populations and participating in or developing culturally responsive programs

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree with an emphasis in Public Health, Social Work or Healthcare

  • 5 or more years of experience in program or project management in a health care setting

  • Experience working with grants

  • Experience working in an integrated environment, including Behavioral health

  • Knowledge and experience with regulatory compliance at the local, state and federal level
