Providence Health & Services Ward Clerk (Part time, Evening) in Kodiak, Alaska
Providence is calling a Ward Clerk to the Medical Surgical Department at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, AK.
The Ward Clerk provides administrative support to the unit by performing various clerical tasks to include greeting and directing patients, family members and visitors, operating multiple telecommunication systems, transferring calls appropriately and accurately maintain patient charts and unit records. Collaborates with team members to coordinate unit activities and flow of information between teams and other entities.
Schedule: Part time (0.6 FTE) - Evening shift (3pm to 10pm)
In this position, you will:
Accurately transcribe orders for patients’ plan of care.
Maintain and operate multiple telecommunication systems.
Oversee RN and CNA schedules as directed by department manager.
Accurately maintain patient charts and unit records according to procedure.
Communicate in a compassionate and professional manner to patients, families and visitors.
Demonstrate professional interpersonal skills and cooperate with other departments and members of the care delivery team to provide optimal continuity of care to patients and their families.
Demonstrate knowledge and support of quality improvement goals.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Completion of a Medical Terminology course or the ability to complete within 90 days of hire date is required.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner under stress.
Ability to stay on task with multiple interruptions.
Basic computer skills/knowledge is also a requirement.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certified Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
Six (6) months of experience in health care activities or in an institutional setting is preferred.
