Providence is calling a Social Worker for the Social Work Services Department at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, AK.
The Social Worker will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directly supervising the activities of the Social Work Department in accordance with Providence philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures and standards. Time will be split between the hospital and the long term care facility.
In this position you will:
Administer the activities of the Social Services Department, supervise the social services personnel and ensure that departmental policies are congruent with facility policies and procedures, professional standards, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Monitor residents’ funds in the resident trust accounts to ensure residents’ Medicaid eligibility is maintained where applicable.
Responsible for the fiscal operations of the department.
Help the patient, resident, client to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial sense of wellbeing that is possible.
Ensure that the Administrator is well informed about department activities and problems concerning patient care. Ensure that the Social Services staff is well informed about medical center and department activities.
Develop departmental Staffing Plan; assure that adequate staff is available; hire, discipline, and discharge in collaboration with the Administrator. Ensure that annual evaluations are completed on time and that individuals are coaxed and counseled to their optimum performance.
Provides an application, information, and guidance for potential residents and their families.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.
Current Social Worker license (if employee has worked under the Social Worker title for Providence since 2001, licensure is not required).
Current Alaska Driver’s License.
Thorough understanding of social work principles, skills, techniques, and human behavior.
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work.
