Providence Health & Services Analyst Coder II in Kodiak, Alaska
Providence is calling an Analyst Coder II to the Medical Records Department at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, AK.
Under the direction of the manager of the Medical Records Department, the certified coder is responsible for the coding and keying of outpatient accounts, routing records to physician for chart completion, keying ICD9 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes into the grouper system and balancing outpatient statistics in accordance with policy and procedure. No supervisory or management functions are carried out on a daily basis, however, coder may be called upon to fill in for a short period during the Manager’s absence.
All work is carried out in accordance with written policies and procedures.
In this position, you will:
Prepare inpatient encounters for coding.
Use 3M encoder and, as needed, ICD9 books and CPT procedural books to correctly code and key outpatient encounters for reimbursement.
Prepare birth certificate disk, downloads to the State of Alaska weekly and PKU lists for mandatory reporting.
Redistribute records to physicians for record completion as needed.
Prepare and balance outpatient monthly statistics for financial department which may include correcting errors in accounting system and master patient index (MPI).
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must sit onsite in Kodiak, AK.
Current CPC, CPC-H, CCS or RHIT or any combination thereof.
Computer experience, 10 key calculator experience, and experience in any office procedures required to complete task of position.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Three years coding experience.
