Providence Health & Services Patient Surgery Scheduler - Cardiology Services in Everett, Washington
Providence is calling a Surgery Scheduler to Providence Medical Group in Mill Creek & Everett, WA.
The Surgery Scheduler will work with clinical teams in the coordination of pre-operative appointments and patient needs as they arise.
Schedule : Full time, Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm
Location : Mill Creek and/or Everett, to be determined
In this position you will:
Greet and verify patient medical and insurance information in a friendly and courteous manner, normally on the phone, but occasionally in person
Communicate urgent patient needs to clinic provider or RN as necessary throughout the scheduling process
Schedule and coordinate procedures, surgeries, office appointments, and necessary tests for patients as required by their surgeon
Complete required referrals and insurance pre-authorizations for hospitalization, surgery, and other services according to requirements, or ensure requirements are met by the appropriate person
Instruct patients in the collection of samples and other tests. Coordinate with surgeon and clinical staff to ensure patient is educated about pre-operative procedures and that all necessary pre-operative procedures/tests have been ordered and completed
Arrange for patient testing, referrals, and/or hospital admission as appropriate
Call patients to remind them of their appointments and reschedule them as needed
Provide general information to patients regarding financial policies and registration requirements
Required qualifications for this position include:
Extensive experience in surgically oriented clinical practice
Broad understanding of the healthcare system to include the contractual and procedural relationships between clinic, hospital, and insurance companies
Understanding of varying patient financial responsibilities under a multitude of insurance plans
Ability to comfortably communicate with patients and insurance companies to obtain necessary information to preauthorize surgeries
Basic knowledge of ICD9 and CPT coding conventions to prepare paperwork
Knowledge of Epic electronic medical record and ability to document activity within the record
Computer keyboard skills, including word processing and spreadsheet experience preferred
