Providence is calling a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to Providence Health & Services in Everett, WA
This is a 0.875 FTE, night shift position. The schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off.
Responsible for phlebotomy and processing of appropriate samples for testing, to include:
1) Computer inquiry and entry to maintain patient demographics as well as test ordering details in multiple computer systems in accordance with compliance guidelines
2) Processing and preparing samples for testing at PRMCE laboratories and Patient Service Centers
3) Processing, preparing and packaging samples for delivery to reference labs
Work is conducted in accordance with all regulatory accreditation agency requirements. Processes all specimen types and sources to be analyzed by the laboratory including blood, urine, cultures and other body fluids. Phlebotomy procedures are required which includes venous and capillary punctures, and urine collections for medical and legal testing procedures (Legal collections depending on location). Some assignments may require out of office travel.
In this position you will:
Demonstrate age specific patient care considerations for the population served
Perform Phlebotomy of Patients
Perform Data Entry
Ensure Correct Patient/Specimen Identification
Follow up on orders and problem specimens
Keep Up to Date on Lab/Hospital Procedures
Maintain confidentiality of records or medical center information at all times
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Keyboarding skills - 30 WPM
CPR certification is also required CPR training completed by 1st month of employment
Completion of a Phlebotomy course (including completion of a 4 week internship in Phlebotomy in a clinical laboratory setting), or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Course, or six months of related laboratory work experience and eligible for DOH Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy license
Active DOH Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant-Certified license (which includes the 7 hours of Blood Borne Pathogens training)
