Providence is calling a Director of Business Offices to Providence Health & Services in Seattle, WA.

We are seeking a Director to be accountable for the development, operations and optimization of the Acute Insurance Billing and AR management processes within Revenue Cycle. This role includes working with key stakeholders across Swedish and Kadlec ministries; developing and executing strategic plans around Acute Insurance Billing and AR management initiatives; participating in, leading, and partnering with others on ORC strategic integration efforts; ensuring a compliant, effective, and streamlined operational experience for business and patient constituent groups.

In this position you will:

  • Develop and maintain a well-trained and empowered staff to ensure timely and accurate billing, meet regulatory, legal, compliance and audit requirements and achieve maximum reimbursement and cash flow of hospital AR.

  • Recommend claims billing and AR goals and objectives in: performance, production, quality and compliance.

  • Manage claims production to achieve and exceed operating goals, service level agreements and regulatory, legal, compliance and audit standards.

  • Implement, analyze and report on key factor reports for tracking and managing the performance of the department.

  • Report proactively to the System Director on any area not meeting standards established in the key factor reports and recommend appropriate changes.

  • Identify, resolve and escalate major issues and service failures that impede success.

  • Have oversight responsibility of departmental budgets within leadership scope including participation in budget development, approval responsibility and ongoing monitoring for productivity and cost compliance.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years equivalent experience in Healthcare related field is required or an equivalent combination of education and/or extensive leadership experience.

  • 10 years experience in a multi-hospital and/or integrated healthcare system with 5 years in a managerial leadership role managing all aspects of billing.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing all aspects of billing follow-up, including patient accounting, third-party payor billing and EDI billing experience in a business office that supports a multiple hospital healthcare system.

  • Demonstrated in depth knowledge of the revenue cycle including: healthcare finance and accounting issues and standards, billing, claims, collections, AR reporting and analysis.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial and or regulatory claims billing including Federal, State and local laws and regulations.

  • Demonstrated experience standardizing complex and disparate processes and maintaining common processes to standards across multiple facilities and in different settings.

  • Works effectively with team members across functional and geographic regions (especially good at working with team members who are not in a directly reporting line relationship).

  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the medical revenue cycle including: health care finance and accounting issues and standards; billing; claims collections; account maintenance; IT systems; customer service; AR reporting and analysis; ICD-9 and CPT accounting procedures; and business process flows.

  • Proven extensive knowledge of EDI billing systems and third-party payor billing process management.

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of commercial and/or regulatory claims billing including relevant Federal, State and local laws and regulations and requirements.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the factors impacting claims billing and AR management as well as proven ability to initiate business improvements in these areas.

  • Proven skills as a strategic thinker who is organized, process oriented, and able to work and facilitate project teams across functions.

  • Demonstrated experience standardizing complex and disparate processes and maintaining common processes to standards across multiple facilities and in different settings.

  • A track record in being able to manage multiple high level projects to successful completion with ease.

  • Demonstrated process management, leadership and organization skills.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
