Providence Health & Services Senior Healthcare Financial Analyst in Anchorage, Alaska


Providence is calling a Senior Healthcare Financial Analyst to Providence Health & Services in Burbank, CA or at one of our other locations in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California or Montana.

We are seeking a Senior Healthcare Financial Analyst to be responsible for providing analytical support to business groups across the organization by providing consistent and meaningful financial information, reporting and analysis.

In this position you will:

  • Partner with all levels of the organization to provide ad hoc financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions. Act as an internal financial consultant and trusted business partner to provide financial guidance, analysis, data, strategic and tactical analysis and recommendations.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to determine and analyze industry trends and the multi-year financial and operation impacts of future service delivery models related to healthcare reform.

  • Partner with Regional Decision Support teams to lead the collection of data and analysis for system-wide clinical initiatives. This includes the facilitation to drive consensus in normalizing the data, assumptions and service line for analysis.

  • Faciliatate and lead the linkage of any new healthcare modeling concepts to support and integrate back into the traditional financial planning and budgeting processes.

  • Develop and review of pro formas for business plans and system-wide initiatives. Perform financial analysis of RFPs, prepare NPV and ROI calculations, financial modeling and business valuations.

  • Facilitate and independently driving all processes and discussions associated with the financial aspect of the project/business group.

  • Champion the continuous improvement of solution development methodologies, systems requirement analysis, etc. in order to improve the delivery of the finance department’s services to various other business areas.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Finance or other related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of previous business & financial analysis, planning & project management experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of previous experience with decision support in the healthcare industry supporting operational departments

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and costing methodologies, service line profitability analysis and physician revenue modeling

  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of computers and electronic systems for data handling and transfer; and independent responsibility for health information management and data analysis, or equivalent

  • Extensive experience with Excel, Access or similar databases, PowerPoint, and statistical and graphing applications

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in Health Administration, Public Health or Business Administration

  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills including ability to write business cases and effectively articulate ideas and recommendations. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management.

  • Independent, proactive, and innovative problem solver who concisely provides options with recommended solution for management decision
