Providence Health & Services RN Resident - New Grads - Med/Surg Units in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a new graduate Registered Nurse to an internship opportunity at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
The Registered Nurse Internship is designed for new graduates or recent graduates with less than six months experience. The intensive preceptorship prepares inexperienced nurses for the challenges of patient care in an acute care hospital setting. Programs last from three to twelve months, depending upon the unit.
Med/Surg units encompass Orthopedics, Oncology, Medical/Surgical, Progressive Care, Neuro and Resource Pool. Positions start March 6, 2017.
In this position you will:
Plan, direct, and provide professional nursing care within an assigned unit using the team approach.
Delegate aspects of patient care consistent with team members level of preparation.
Coordinate care planning with other disciplines and team members. Serve as the point of contact for patient information.
Observe patient to reflect a knowledge of pathophysiology and the disease process, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and education needs, cognitive status, safety, and equipment.
Develop plans to reflect the identified needs as well as expected outcomes obtained from the patient assessment.
Demonstrate effective clinical judgment, and provides appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Determine effectiveness of interventions, and revises the plan of care based on expected outcomes.
Qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Nursing
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska
Less than six (6) months of acute care experience, or less than two (2) years of non-hospital experience
Variable schedule to meet department needs
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and work with a variety of health unit teams
