Providence Health & Services RN Fellowship- Pediatrics ICU in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse to a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) fellowship opportunity at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
The Fellowship Nurse will be accountable for the delivery of quality care to patients and families, according to the individualized needs of the patient and following the nursing process in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
In this position you will:
Participate in a six-month preceptor guided training program designed for experienced RNs new to providing care to neonates.
Be competent to access and analyze patient information and history with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and chronological maturation process.
Direct and coordinate the care given by Patient Care Technicians, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), students, volunteers, and ancillary personnel.
Perform all duties in a manner that supports team concept, collegial, collaborative caring, and respectful, reflecting the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and the Sisters of Providence Mission
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree/diploma upon hire
All Registered Nurses without a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing must obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher within 3 years of hire
A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN
Active Alaska state RN license
BLS at hire and PALS within 90 days. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network (MTN) upon hire.
Twelve (12) months acute care experience working with the patient population similar to department of hire or completion of the specialty

The Pediatric Center is dedicated to providing a full range of services to infants through young adults by using the latest medical equipment and technologies. We are committed to working with children, families and professional staff to create a comfortable setting to help families through the hospitalization of their child while maintaining the highest quality of care specific to each patients needs. Parents are welcome and encouraged to be with their child and participate in their child's care at all times.The Pediatric Center is made up of two sister units that share common support space and professional staff. The Pediatric Unit is a 17-bed unit designed to meet the needs of families and children requiring hospital care for surgical, trauma, cardiac, endocrine, oncology, neurology and all other medical problems. The Pediatric Intensive Care is a 9-bed unit for children with critical illnesses or injuries and is the only place of its kind in the state of Alaska.
