Providence Health & Services RN Fellowship - Labor and Delivery (Nights) in Anchorage, Alaska

Providence is calling a Registered Nurse to a Labor and Delivery fellowship opportunity at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.

The Fellowship Nurse will be accountable for the delivery of quality care to patients and families, according to the individualized needs of the patient and following the nursing process in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. They will provide assessment, treatment, and care for patients of all ages including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, as applicable. The Labor and Delivery Fellowship will be for a period of one (1) year.

In this position you will:

  • Coordinate patient care activities with other members of the health care team in a collegial relationship.

  • Direct and coordinate the care given by Patient Care Technicians, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), students, volunteers, and ancillary personnel.

  • Perform all duties in a manner that supports team concept, collegial, collaborative caring, and respectful, reflecting the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and the Sisters of Providence Mission.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Nursing degree/diploma upon hire

  • All Registered Nurses without a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing must obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher within 3 years of hire

  • A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN

  • Active Alaska state RN license

  • BLS at hire, NRP and ACLS within 90 days. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network (MTN) upon hire.

  • Twelve (12) months acute care experience working with the patient population similar to department of hire or completion of the specialty residency located at that facility.
