Providence Health & Services Registered Nurse - PICU (variable) in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse to the Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
The Registered Nurse will be accountable for the delivery and supervision of safe, quality care that is individualized for their assigned patients and follows the nursing process in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act (assessment, planning implementation, evaluation).
In this position you will:
Be responsible for the assessment, treatment and care of patients in populations and ages as assigned.
Access, analyze, customize, coordinate and communicate the patient’s plan of care and activities collaboratively with other members of the health care team. Families and or significant others will be included within the plan of care as appropriate.
Direct, delegate and manage the care delivered by colleagues and subordinates.
Perform all duties in a manner that respects and supports the family centered care model.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree/diploma upon hire
All Registered Nurses without a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing must obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher within 3 years of hire
A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN
Active Alaska state RN license
BLS and PALS. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network (MTN) upon hire.
Twelve (12) months acute care experience working with the patient population similar to department of hire or completion of the specialty residency located at that facility

The Pediatric Center is dedicated to providing a full range of services to infants through young adults by using the latest medical equipment and technologies. We are committed to working with children, families and professional staff to create a comfortable setting to help families through the hospitalization of their child while maintaining the highest quality of care specific to each patients needs. Parents are welcome and encouraged to be with their child and participate in their child's care at all times.
The Pediatric Center is made up of two sister units that share common support space and professional staff. The Pediatric Unit is a 17-bed unit designed to meet the needs of families and children requiring hospital care for surgical, trauma, cardiac, endocrine, oncology, neurology and all other medical problems. The Pediatric Intensive Care is a 9-bed unit for children with critical illnesses or injuries and is the only place of its kind in the state of Alaska.
