In this position you will:

  • Collaborate with the patient, family and members of the healthcare team; develop, document, implement and monitor an individualized plan of care which reflects a standard based on best practice and evidence-based medicine.

  • Perform procedures according to accepted unit protocols, guidelines, standards and the Nurse Practice Act.

  • Monitor patient's condition, note change in status, utilize judgement and take appropriate action.

  • Demonstrate advancement of professional nursing practice through continuing education, required training, certification, and participation in department activities.

  • Take an active role in building and maintaining an environment that fosters open communication, patient and family-centered care and healthy collegial relationships.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Nursing degree/diploma upon hire

  • All Registered Nurses without a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing must obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher within 3 years of hire

  • A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN

  • Active Alaska state RN license

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider from one of the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network (MTN) upon hire.

  • Twelve (12) months acute care experience working with the patient population similar to department of hire or completion of the specialty residency

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelors of Nursing degree (BSN)

  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification

  • One (1) year Registered Nurse experience in an Operating Room setting

Currently we have 18 OR suites and plan to expand. With over 1,000 cases per month, all surgical procedures are performed here except for organ transplants. We offer the latest technology including robotics and advanced surgical procedures.
