Providence Health & Services Registered Nurse Fellowship - Operating Room (1.0 FTE Days) in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse Fellow (1.0 FTE, Days) to the Operating Room at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
This six (6) month orientation program will provide you with the information and skills you need to transition to perioperative nursing. The program is comprised of didactics, clinical experiences, special presentations/lecturers, case studies and skill labs to help you achieve clinical excellence. In addition, you will be paired with preceptors who will add their vast experiences to your knowledge base. With over 1,000 cases per month between 18 different suites, you will become an expert in all things OR. We offer state of the art equipment to include the new XI robot and hybrid room for minimally invasive procedures in an environment unmatched by any other in the region.

In this position you will:
Work with a preceptor and assume increasing responsibility during the fellowship.
Demonstrate competencies in populations served at completion of fellowship.
Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patient’s care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes.
Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights values and beliefs of those we serve.
Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team including students.
Align practice with safety and quality. Be accountable for safety. Identify and correct problems.
Engage in ongoing professional development; promote a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates and disseminates research and evidence based practice.
Lead and coordinate teams, delegate, coordinate care and collaborate with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire
All Registered Nurses without a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing must obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher within 3 years of hire
A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN
Active Alaska state RN license
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider from one of the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network (MTN) upon hire
12 months of nursing experience but new to specialty of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelors of Nursing degree (BSN)
Certified Nurse Operating Room certification

This is a great opportunity to be employed by the largest OR facility in Alaska, that has the latest technology including robotics and provides state of the art patient care. Currently we have 17 OR suites and we are expanding. With over 1,000 cases per month, all surgical procedures are performed here except for organ transplants.
