Providence Health & Services Pharmacy Pyxis and Automation Specialist in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Pharmacy Pyxis and Automation Specialist to the Pharmacy at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
The pharmacy pyxis and automation specialist is responsible for basic maintenance, report writing, and database support of our automated dispensing machines and automation in the pharmacy department as well as assessing departments for pyxis needs and coordinating and implementing new machines for hospital departments.
In this position, you will:
Repair and maintain pyxis automation equipment or initiates repairs through support as needed.
Act as the interface between pyxis and the pharmacy department and coordinates repairs and maintenance through pyxis.
Assess department pyxis needs based on drug use data and provides a detailed plan for the amount and type of equipment necessary to meet the needs of the inquiring department.
Organize and build new pyxis equipment for departments using ISMP guidelines and specialists assessment of each individual departments drug needs.
Participate in quality improvement projects pertaining to any automation or pyxis process involving pharmacy including dealing with items stocking out in pyxis and adjusting drug par levels to optimally fulfill the needs of each department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Alaska Pharmacy Technician License.
Two years’ work experience in a pharmacy department required.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical nomenclature.
Knowledge of the HBO computer system.
Versatile, disciplined, with good organizational skills and good interpersonal communications skill.
Able to work in stressful situations and under tight time constraints.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- One year of health care procurement preferred.
