Providence Health & Services Onsite Customer Support, Financial Counselor in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling an Onsite Customer Support, Financial Counselor to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
We are seeking an Onsite Customer Support, Financial Counselor to be responsible for providing onsite customer support services for staff members and other customers. The Onsite Customer Support person balances and posts all incoming money for the various departments in the facility.
In this position you will:
Greet customers promptly, courteously and professionally and answer minimal account inquiries; refer customers to the Financial Counselor for resolution regarding changes on their accounts as appropriate.
Act as cashier for staff, accept patient payments, and post all walk-in payments, Lifeline and General Ledger payments and enter posts into the computer; reconcile large volume of cash that is received through the mail, walk-in patient payments, and the various medical center departments and prepare the bank deposit daily.
Prepare daily batching of payments that are sent by mail to and sends to the Regional Business office; distribute and record petty cash transactions
Respond to customer service inquiries from patients, guarantors, physician offices and other service partners; assist patients with Medicaid applications and enrollment of programs as a Certified Assister.
Coordinate daily delivery of appropriate documents to the Regional Business Office; prepare log for armored car pickup.
Act as front line triage for Financial Counselors, pulling credit reports as needed, making payment arrangements based on certain guidelines, assist in processing financial assistance applications for patients, and approve charity care for patients based on a dollar threshold
Provide help to the financial counselors with Health Plan enrollments, “WQ’s” and screening/interview patients when short staffed or help is needed.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school graduate.
Clerical and computer experience.
Knowledge of working in a managed-care environment.
Must have the ability to explain billing and balance for Medicare, commercial and managed-care accounts, as well as asking patients how they will clear the balance owed on their accounts.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
College-level course work highly desired.
Cash handling experience.
Prior customer service collection experience.
