Providence is calling Neurodiagnostic Technician Student to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.

We are seeking individuals who have an interest in a career as a Neurodiagnostic Technician. The Neurodiagnostic Technician Student will work alongside Neurodiagnostic Technicians full time, receiving on the job training, while working toward their EEG certification.

The Neurodiagnostic Technician Student works in the neurodiagnostic department with a primary responsibility to gain competence in diagnostic electroencephalography (EEG) with secondary competencies including polysomnograph (PSG) and/or evoked potential (EP) in inpatient and outpatient areas.

In this position you will:

  • Set up patients and perform neurodiagnostic testing (EEG—primary; and PSG, and/or EP), produce artifact free records, and document in EPIC.

  • Learn and gain competence in the calibration, cleaning and troubleshooting all of the neurodiagnostic equipment.

  • Gain certification and maintain continuing education units to meet certification requirements.

  • Analyze, distribute and follow-up on patient data.

  • Educate patients/families about test to be performed and technician role in testing.

  • Perform neurodiagnostic testing ((EEG—primary; and PSG, and/or EP) according to national standards.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • CPR/Basic Life Support must be current

  • Work with neurodiagnostic technicians through on the job training, didactic education, and complete a Certificate or Associate level degree in EEG or END technology within two (2) years of hire

  • Must be interested in the field of study with completion of approved EEG program and certification within two (2) years of hire

  • Registered with the BRPT, ABRET, or National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) or another related registration to be vetted through neuroscience director within two years of employment

  • Will learn human anatomy, neurophysiology, medical terminology and basic CPR if not already a foundational skill

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Web based Polysomnographic/Sleep education program with certification highly considered
