Providence Health & Services Medical Staff Coordinator - Temporary in Anchorage, Alaska

Providence is calling a Medical Staff Coordinator (Medical Staff Office, Temporary - Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Medical Staff Coordinator provides support to the medical staff organization activities under the direction of the Medical Staff Services Manager. Primary activities are focused toward managing the medical staff department, committee meetings, credentialing for shadows, students and residents for the medical staff and annual policy reviews.

In this position you will:

  • Develop and maintain all Medical Staff files; be responsible for the maintenance of the medical staff data base, input all relevant data, generate rosters and reports as needed for staff, the medical staff, it’s committees and appropriate hospital departments

  • Work regularly with the leaders of the medical staff to include the Department Chairs and Elected leadership to review files, plan meetings and to resolve any other issues

  • Be responsible for various secretarial duties requested by the Medical Staff members, Medical Staff Department Chairs, Medical Staff Leadership and committees of the Medical Staff

  • Schedule monthly meetings of the Medical Staff and other related activities; establish agendas for meetings in cooperation with the Chair of the Departments and Committees; attend most meetings of the medical staff to take meeting minutes, ensure all necessary material for the meeting is available to members; complete meeting minutes and follow through on all department and/or committee recommendations, correspondence, and channel actions from one department/committee to another for appropriate follow-up; maintain Monthly and Annual Meeting Calendars

  • Responsible for the timely and electronic process of all medical staff initial applications and reappointment applications

  • Maintain a current roster of the Medical Staff and notifies all in-house departments of any changes

  • Maintain a current binder of all Medical Staff privileges in the Nursing Supervisors office in the event of system down time; maintain current privileges for all practitioners in electronic software

  • Be responsible for the financial transactions of the medical staff for the collection of application fees and annual staff dues, financial accounting, paying medical staff bills and keeping the Medical Staff Executive Committee informed of the status of all staff funds

  • Maintain knowledge of the latest recommendation from Joint Commission and the State of Alaska Medical Board regulations, particularly in reference to accreditation, peer review and the laws effect on assigned job duties

  • Coordinate with the Manager of the department to prepare for Joint Commission and other regulatory surveys

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified. Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certifications at time of hire or obtained within 3 years from date of hire

  • 4 years administrative experience

  • Excellent writing skills and strong organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience in word process and the use of menu driven computer applications

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Associates in Arts (AA) degree or higher

  • Experience working with senior level or executive management

  • 1 or more years related experience in medical staff services

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
