Providence Health & Services Lead Cook (1.0 FTE, Evening) in Anchorage, Alaska


Providence is calling a Lead Cook to the Food and Nutrition Department at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.

Under general supervision the Food and Nutrition Services Cook – Lead oversees daily production activities in the main kitchen.

In this position you will:

  • Verify food is correctly produced and presented for the patient Room Service program, cafeteria, catering and coffee courts at PAMC.

  • Assist in providing supervision to create and maintain a positive working environment which promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction.

  • Work as a "Lead", having both line serving and back of the house cooking responsibilities, as well as lead responsibilities for making daily decision regarding production and line service.

  • Assign work responsibilities to the production team(s) as necessary.

  • Assist with administrative duties such as forecasting, reviewing daily recipes and quantities and organizing the cooking components of the production process with the production staff.

  • Provide kitchen supervision to include scheduling coverage, education, training, resolving issues and providing daily positive leadership.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school degree or equivalent.

  • Must have two years of progressively responsible Food and Nutrition Services experience.

  • At least one year in a team mentoring or lead role required.

  • Should be familiar with the fundamental operation of a hospital kitchen and be able to communicate effectively.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Two years college in Food and Nutrition.

  • Dietary Managers Certificate.
