Providence Health & Services Laboratory Shift Coordinator in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Laboratory Shift Coordinator to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
The individual in this position will leads a group of laboratory employees working on a particular shift. Coordinate daily operations of the clinical laboratory/section. Serve as a resource to laboratory staff and physicians for the resolution of unusual problems or unexpected circumstances (both technical and non-technical).
In this position you will:
Coordinate the work to be performed and provide work direction and assignments as needed.
Ensure that laboratory technical procedures are consistently followed
Coordinates staff scheduling with the Technical Lab Manager and section supervisors
Assist with the development and assessment of staff technical competency, including delegation and review of proficiency testing assignments.
Assist with review of staff QC/QI and maintenance logs for accuracy and completion.
Assist Technical Lab Manager with staff development.
Communicate with Lab Administration and work groups in an effective manner. Introduces new methods or technical procedures as necessary.
Coordinate with Technical Lab Manager to ensure that staff members are aware of changes in the laboratory information system or non-technical procedure changes.
Report unsafe/unhealthy practices and conditions immediately to appropriate Lab Administration for corrective action.
With the Technical Lab Manager and section supervisors, identify consumable supply needs to ensure adequate resources are available for testing and routine operations.
Required qualifications for this position include:
B.S. in Medical Technology or education and training equivalent to the requirements for a B.S.
Minimum of one (1) year clinical experience
Demonstrates punctuality by being ready and available for work at start of assigned shift in accordance with hospital policy
Works scheduled hours and when requested is willing to adjust personal schedule to complete workload
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Previous leadership/supervisory experience
