Providence Health & Services Laboratory Coding & Charge Integrity Specialist in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Laboratory Coding & Charge Integrity Specialist to Lab Outreach Administration at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
In this position, you will:
Assign ICD-9-CmCM, ICD-10-CM and CPT codes and abstract clinical information for outpatient encounters.
Demonstrate proficiency in accuracy of coding and abstracting and meet defined productivity standards.
Ensure data integrity while performing the coding process.
Provide administrative support to management and staff.
Require the ability to develop, prioritize, perform and monitor multiple tasks and schedules.
Represent Providence by coordinating exchange of information between the department and customers.
Be responsible for the processing of all customers as well as various office and reception functions using knowledge of systems and procedures, hospital policies and interdepartmental functions.
Ensure account and claim information contains comprehensive and accurate data to provide for timely billing and optimal reimbursement for services.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or equivalent.
One year of coding, patient registration and/or billing experience in a health care setting.
Hold at least one of the following coding credentials: Registered Health Information Management Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
Must have the ability to prioritize, organize and process work tasks effectively.
Must demonstrate proficiency in general medical office procedures.
Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.
Must be able to relate in a positive and compassionate manner to customers.
Must have good working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office computer systems.
Must have working knowledge of standard office equipment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- One year of coding, patient registration and/or medical billing experience in hospital setting preferred.
