Providence Health & Services Cardiovascular Assistant II- Alaska (Full-Time, Days) in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Cardiovascular Assistant II to the Cardiovascular Intervention/Cardiovascular Observation Unit at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
The Cardiovascular Assistant II performs a variety of administrative and patient care duties.
This is a full-time, dayshift position.
In this position you will:
Provides basic patient care under the supervision of a RN and/or professional associate; reports changes in patient condition, problematic and unusual circumstances to the RN staff
Coordinate the flow of information between the cardiovascular team and other key entities; communicate effectively with RN staff and other caregivers regarding patient and family issues; direct families and patients to key resources as needed; recognize and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Accurately transcribes orders from physicians; perform computer order entry, transcribe and recopy MAR's, and update kardex
Perform groin management and shealth removal under supervision of clinical staff as needed
Assist with transporting patients
Responsible for ordering of unit and patient care supplies, process and follow up on work order requests for any unit repairs
Assist with room turnaround; while assisting in troubleshooting and minor equipment repair
Stock supplies, instruments, and equipment according to protocol and storage allocations; alert/notify Supervisor, and/or management about equipment/supply concerns or problems with operational performance
Assist as needed with cath lab scheduling and reception desk duties
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school graduate or equivalent
Completion of a Medical Terminology course within 90 days of hire
Radiation Safety training required within the first 3 months of hire
BLS training required upon hire
Ability to operate hospital based computer systems
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner under stress
Ability to stay on task with multiple interruptions
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Completion of a Pharmacology course
Certification by the National Association of Health Unit Coordinators
Six (6) months experience in health care activities or institutional setting
